Here’s an update on the recent UP Alumni Association election that was keenly contested by the Upsilon-dominated lineup called GP 23, and a mixed professional group called GP 21. Despite the order of RTC Branch 222 under Judge Rogelio Pizarro for the UPAA comelec to conduct the final tally within five days, its chair, Victor Avecilla, an Upsilonian, defied it and instead filed a motion signed only by himself, to set the court order aside, claiming the court’s lack of jurisdiction. By now it’s obvious that this is another dilatory tactic of the UPAA comelec so as not to proclaim the winners.
